Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday with the home visit of Southampton.

The Gunners went into the international break on the back of an encouraging 3-1 away win at Watford. Mesut Ozil scored on his first start of the season, although Olivier Giroud didn’t feature.

Ozil’s inclusion also significantly boosted the performance of Alexis Sanchez, who scored two and assisted another on the day.

The Saints are still looking for their first league win of the campaign, having draw their last match against Sunderland 1-1.

The biggest positive for Claude Puel’s side was that Jay Rodriguez scored his first goal in over two years.

Both sets of players were heavily involved with their national teams during the break. Ozil and Giroud both netted for Germany and France respectively, while Granit Xhaka picked up a late red card in Switzerland’s 2-0 win over Jose Fonte’s Portugal.
