Lucas Vazquez started the season as a fringe player at Real Madrid, but his significance to the team has grown continuously and led to his place in the side next season being assured.

Some were surprised when Rafa Benitez gave the 24-year-old a role of increased importance, but his position under Zinedine Zidane has become even more vital, and the Frenchman sees Vazquez as essential to his future plans.

The Galician has played 1231 minutes for Los Blancos in the league this season, as well as 287 in the Champions League, and has featured more and more as the season has progressed.

These minutes have led to a contribution of four goals and eight assists in performances that have convinced Zidane of his quality, with the coach refusing to speak to clubs about Vazquez's availability.

Sevilla recently enquired about the Madrid youth product, and it is thought Liverpool are also among a host of European sides interested in signing him, but Zidane has been firm in his rebuttals.
